2020 Chateau Lynch-Bages, Pauillac, Bordeaux

HoldWell stockedMichael Schuster 92-94/100

Ch. Lynch Bages, a Classified 5th Growth, is one of the best-known Médoc estates and has always had a particularly strong following on this side of the English Channel. Tracing its roots back to 1691 when Thomas Lynch emigrated to Bordeaux from Galway, the Château has been in the capable hands of the Cazes family since 1934. From 1973, the enigmatic Jean-Michel Cazes took the reins and helped transform Ch. Lynch Bages, from a solid 5th Growth, to a property which can challenge the “Super Seconds”, if not the 1st Growths, in certain vintages. Now run by Jean-Michel’s charismatic son, Jean-Charl
