2016 Vacqueyras, Le Clos, Domaine Montirius

Last night saw our 2016 Rhône en primeur tasting, where we and 31 of our growers showcased almost 100 wines from the superlative 2016 vintage. A great success, the wines showed all the exemplary characteristics of this fantastic vintage. The Cote Rotie, Cornas, Hermitage & St Joseph wines from the North had delicacy, vibrancy - a classical but ripe framework. Very fine wines which will age well in a contrasting style to the solaire vintages of 2007 or 2009. The wines of the South: Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas, Vacqueyras etc had that great presence of wines from a top level, stellar vintage.
